Expensive failures despite regular maintenance intervals<\/h2>

As an essential component of the drive units of plants, machinery, and commercial vehicles, the drive shaft is exposed to high loads, especially when used in harsh environments.<\/p>

Companies carry out maintenance work at regular intervals to ensure full functionality. The current condition of the equipment to be maintained and thus its actual maintenance requirement are often unknown. As a rule, the cause is only investigated in the event of a failure and the required spare part is then ordered. This leads to unnecessary delays and expensive production downtime. <\/p>

Innovative sensory components as game changers<\/h2>

To counteract this, the market leader “Elbe Group” has developed an innovative product family of sensory drive shafts in cooperation with core sensing. The intelligent components continuously provide data about their condition. Potential problems can thus be identified and resolved in good time. Cost-intensive downtimes are significantly reduced. What many plant and vehicle manufacturers have wished for is finally becoming a reality. <\/p>

The intelligence of the next-generation drive shaft is located inside a standard drive shaft. To achieve this, core sensing has integrated its intelligent sensors and measurement electronics into the existing cavity of the component. The strain gauges built into the drive shaft were individually provided by Hottinger Br\u00fcel & Kjaer (HBK) and optimally adapted to the ambient conditions of the application in terms of geometric dimensions, material, and temperature tolerance. <\/p>

The design-integrated sensor provides high-precision real-time information about the acting torque directly from the drive shaft. This information allows reliable conclusions to be drawn about the condition of the shaft and the surrounding components. The user can therefore rely on precise measurement results. <\/p>
